Central Sanskrit University (Rashtriya Sanskrit Sansthan) established the Sri Rajiv Gandhi Campus at Sringeri, Karnataka. The decision behind establishing the campus in this holy place was rightly taken by the University authorities and the campus was inaugurated by His Excellency R.Venktaraman, the then President of India on the auspicious day the 13th January 1992 with the Divine blessings of Jagadguru Sri Sri Bharathi Theertha Mahaswamiji of Dakshinamnaya Sringeri Sri Sharadapeetham.
Sri Bharati Tirtha Shastra Samutkarsha Kendra has been introduced, from the academic session 2025-26, at Sri Rajiv Gandhi Campus to enhance the Shastric Knowledge by implemeting the Gurukula Method of Teaching and Learning system from Prak Shastri and Shastri Level.
At present the campus offers Prak-Shastri, Shastri, Acharya, Shiksha-Shastri and Vidyavaridhi courses equivalent to Intermediate, B.A., M.A., B.Ed., and Ph.D respectively and recognized by various Universities. In addition to these courses, the campus offers a ray of modern subjects for the all round development of the students such as History, English, Kannada, Hindi, Computer Education, Yoga and Environmental Education.
The Campus has well established Administrative-cum-Academic block, Auditorium, Conference Hall, Boys Hostel, Girls Hostel, Guest House and a play ground. Apart from this, a new and advanced Academic Building is under construction.
The University is also the member of the Association of Indian Universities.
